About Steppinstones Rehabilitation Center

Since 2001, Michelle Lipski has rescued, fostered and rehabilitated homeless dogs.  Michelle's passion inspired others to join her cause and a network of dedicated foster homes grew with each providing care and training for homeless dogs.

Certain breeds have special needs and don't do well in a shelter environment, like Border Collies and Australian Shepherds, due to their energy levels.  Other dogs may need more in depth medical care due to an illness, injury or have special needs (ie. deaf, blind or missing limbs).   Besides a need for experienced foster homes, there is a lack of rehabilitation centers for dogs in Wisconsin to be evaluated and rehabilitated (both behaviorally and medically), so that they can begin their journey to finding a forever home.

Steppinstone's vision is to establish an open concept rehabilitation center where dogs can live in a home-like environment which would make their transition to their forever homes easier.  The play yards will feature agility and interactive equipment designed to meet breed and play style needs.  Dogs will receive both medical and behavioral evaluations, medical treatment as well as 24 hour on-site care and supervision.

About Michelle

As a long time animal lover, I have been working in the animal field most of my life. Whether it be as a dog trainer, manager of a horse boarding facility, director of operations for a major suburban shelter or working at a doggy daycare, dogs were always in my life.

As I look back on my professional journey, the one job that touched me the most was working at the shelter.  It was my job to rehabilitate and re-home dogs, cats and various animals.  This, however, did not feel like a job, as it was not only a career and hobby to re-home animals, but my passion.

After I left the shelter, I knew I had to find a way to continue my vision of helping dogs, primarily Border Collies, Australian Shepherds and Labradors. That vision lead to Steppinstone Rehabilitation Center and Dog Training.

I offer tailored positive training and exercise programs for you and your dog as well as boarding services. I offer a great camp and train program. Your dog goes  everywhere with my pack and camps with them at night. Expecially helpful for basics commands with distraction and shy or fearful dogs.

I am a certified dog trainer through the Animal Behavior College, as well as having over ten years of training experience in both group and private settings.

Working with owners one on one gives me the chance to explain how to establish themselves as pack leaders and understand your dogs needs.  The more you learn about dog psychology, the better you will be able to connect with your canine companion.
